Abstract
Ten psychiatric patients subjected to electroshock were examined. The plasma fibrinolytic system was measured before and immediately after the shock. Euglobulin fibrinolytic activity increased markedly. Plasmin inhibitor activity increased slightly, whereas urokinase inhibitor, plasminogen, and proactivator were unchanged. It is concluded that the increased fibrinolytic activity after electroshock is due to an increased activator activity and not to a decreased inhibitor activity.
