Abstract
A semiautomatic portable recorder for measurement of blood pressure, heart rate, and time of observation is described. The instrument is based on the Riva-Rocci method with a microphone in the cuff. The Korotkoff sounds and the cuff pressure are converted to electric impulses and recorded on a tape recorder. The read-out system is simple. The correlation between simultaneous measurements of blood pressure by the instrument and by the ordinary Riva-Rocci method is good (r systolic=0.92 and r diastolic=0.84).
