Abstract

Urinary erythropoietin levels were measured in two normal dogs before and after probenecid administration (25 mg/kg/day). Decrased urinary erythropoietin excretion was noted in those dogs receiving the drug. This would indicate that the secretion of erythropoietin was blocked at the site of action of the probenecid, the proximal convoluted tubules.
