Abstract

Muscle electrolytes and total exchangeable electrolytes were determined in 14 patients with cardiao disease. In accordance with previous studies it was found that the average total exhangeable potassium was low. Intracellular concentrations of potassium, sodium, and magnesium were normal, supporting the assumption that the loss of potassium in cardiac disease is mainly due to a loss of cell mass.
