Abstract

The performance of a method for determination of oxygen content in 25-μl blood samples, using commercially available equipment, is described. The method gives a coefficient of variation in total oxygen content of 1 to 2 per cent and allows measurements of 10 to 12 samples within an hour. Good agreement was obtained with results obtained from titrations of hydrogen peroxide. There were no systematic differences between the To2 values obtained with the present method and those calculated from spectrophotometric determinations of oxygen saturation and hemoglobin concentration.
