Abstract
In a randomized sample of women in the age strata 38, 46, 50, 54 and 60 years, representative of the general population of women in Göteborg, Sweden, of these ages, serum cholesterol and triglyceride levels were determined. Both cholesterol and triglyceride levels increased with age up to the age of 54, after which a slight decline was observed. The distribution of serum triglycerides was skewed with the median values lower than the mean values. Serum triglycerides tended to be higher during the months October-March than during the months of April, May, and September, while there was no such tendency for serum cholesterol.
