Blood filterability in diabetics: Role of glucose, insulin, HGH and glycosylated haemoglobin levels

Abstract

In twelve insulin-dependent and light non-insulin-dependent diabetics and in ten controls we compared whole blood filterability on 5pm polycarbonate sieves with glucose, insulin, C-peptid arid HGH levels in the course of oral glucose tolerance tests. No significant correlation was shown between filterability and the parameters tested but, conversely, a significant negative relationship was found between fasting filterability data and glycosylated haemoglobin levels (r= - 0.63 P< 0.01).
