An Electrode for pH Measurement in the Gastrointestinal Tract

Pages 91-94 | Received 10 Aug 1967, Published online: 25 Feb 2010

Abstract

This paper describes an electrode designed for pH measurements in the gastro-intestinal tract. Some of the problems concerned with in vivo pH measurements are discussed, and a direct recording of pH is shown from different parts of the duodenum. By means of a pH averaging analog computer, information can be obtained about mean pH and the percentage of time pH is below and above pre-set values.
