Fiberscope used Under Guidance of Fluoroscopy and Intragastric Injection of Urografin

Pages 123-128 | Received 20 Aug 1967, Published online: 25 Feb 2010

Abstract

With the constant guidance of fluoroscopy with television in gastroscopy it is possible to determine with considerable accuracy the position of the fiberscope in relation to the wall of the stomach. On the screen the direction of the fiberscope is observed, thus assuring the exact localization of the gastroscopic view.

By injecting Urografin through the air channel of the fiberscope, the localization of the tip of the fiberscope to the pre-pyloric area, the duodenal bulb, or even distally to the latter may also be determined with considerable accuracy. In addition, the injected Urografin may provide fluoroscopic delineation of the gastric wall and motility.
