Abstract
Disturbances of the carbohydrate metabolism in patients with gastric carcinoma can be supposed to be related to the tumour tissue, because other factors that might interfere with the carbohydrate metabolism were excluded. No significant differences in the average blood glucose level on an empty stomach were found between the patients with gastric carcinoma and the controls. The coefficient K was lower in patients with gastric carcinoma than in the healthy subjects. The coefficient K may be an additional indication in the early diagnosis of tumours.
