Abstract
The study of the I131 ionic secretion in the gastric juice following intravenous administration of Na I131 has shown that in duodenal ulcer under basal conditions an increased I131 intragastric secretion exists as compared with normal subjects. The gastric secretion of iodine ion thus parallels the HCl output under basal conditions. However, following histamine and insulin stimulation of gastric acid secretion, a decrease in the I131 concentration in the gastric juice occurs. Our results suggest an increased selectivity favouring chlorine output induced in parietal cells of the stomach by the histamine and insulin stimulation.
