Abstract

One patient with long-standing dermatitis herpetiformis associated with gastric hypochlorhydria and small-bowel mucosal atrophy is reported. After more than 40 years' duration of the skin disease she developed a malignant mesenteric lymphoma of the large bowel. As lymphoma is considered a complication in coeliac disease, this case strengthens the similarity between the enteropathy in dermatitis herpetiformis and coeliac disease.
