Gastric Ulcer Treated with Vagotomy, Pyloroplasty, and Excision

Abstract

Fifty patients with uncombined gastric ulcer were treated by excision and pyloroplasty. In cases in which PAO exceeded 15 (22 cases) a vagotomy was added. One patient died postoperatively owing to a pulmonary infarction. Of the remaining patients 47 have been followed up. In 6 patients moderate postvagotomy symptoms developed; in 4 patients recurrent ulcer developed.
