Abstract
Traditionally, roentgenologic cholecystography with iodinated contrast media has been used in the diagnosis of cholecystitis. Because of time delay, inconclusive tests, and side effects this diagnostic procedure is far from ideal. Moreover, early cholecystectomy of patients with acute cholecystitis may reduce the mortality rate, complications, and days in hospital (1, 2). It is therefore essential to diagnose this disease accurately and early. The objective of this survey is the diagnostic impact of two diagnostic features: ultrasonography and cholescintigraphy in patients suspected of having acute cholecystitis.
