Effects of Omeprazole on Normal and Regenerating Gastric Mucosa in the Rat. A Light and Electron Microscopic Study

Pages 70-71 | Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

Long-term treatment with H2-receptor antagonists has been shown to affect the morphology of the gastric mucosa. Thus, it has been reported that treatment with cimetidine results in an increase in the mucosal thickness of both normal and regenerating mucosa (1, 2). Changes in parietal cell ultrastructure have also been found (2).
