Abstract
Studies in humans have shown that omeprazole produces a dose dependent and long lasting inhibition of pentagastrin stimulated and overnight acid secretion (1). In studies of patients with duodenal ulcer, where doses of 20, 30, 40 or 60 mg daily were given for 28 days, the compound has been well tolerated (2). It was of interest, therefore, to compare secretory inhibition in duodenal ulcer patients and normal subjects using the same technique.
