Abstract
Conventional barium meal and endoscopic findings were compared in 75 patients with upper gastrointestinal (UGIT) haemorrhage and 43 patents with clinically suspected UGIT malignancy. Coventional barium ITIMI missed 3 cases of mnlignan cy and gave a false positive haemorrhage, barium meal helped to locate the somo of bleeding correctly in 38 patients only 50.7%). While efforts should continue to I>H made to improve radiological yield, endoscopy, where a available, should be prefer red in investigating UGIT diseases.
