Abstract
Of 838 patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) treated at The Cleveland Clinic between 1955 and 1974, 37% had family histories positive for IBD. This high familial prevalence may relfect that the study was deliberately undertaken once the disease was established in the proband.
