Abstract

We report infectious mononucleosis in a 15-year-old girl with severe thrombocytopenia (2×109/1). Intravenous hydrocortisone in high doses for 4 days had no effect. When intravenous immunoglobulin and acyclovir were added an immediate response was noted with normalization of the thrombocyte count within 3 days.
