Abstract
Erythroplasia of Queyrat is a carcinoma in situ, usually localised to the glans penis. It tends to invade the underlying tissue and give lymph node metastases. Early diagnosis and radical extirpation of the lesion are imperative. If the process is confined to the mucous membrane, excision of a superficial part of the glans extending down into the corpus cavernosum is sufficient. If deeper structures have been involved penile amputation is indicated. A possible alternative in the latter situation is radiotherapy.
