Pages 87-91 | Received 10 Sep 1969, Published online: 09 Jul 2009

Abstract

Twenty-three patients, including 16 from Korea, underwent single-stage resection of urethral stricture and end-to-end anastomosis. the maximal length of stricture accepted for the one-stage operation was 30 mm. For longer strictures a two-stage operation was done. the site of stricture was the membraneous urethra in 19 patients. A good primary result was obtained in 20 patients. Recurrence of stricture in three patients necessitated further surgery. the final result was good in 22 of the 23 patients. the period of observation was one to two years in 21 cases and less than a year in two cases.
