Abstract
A case of cystitis due to Clostridium welchii in pure culture is reported. The case presented as isolated cysritis without septicaemia, infection in other organs or metastatic lesions. The patient, a 76-year-old woman with diabetes mellitus, was successfully treated with a combination of trimethoprim and sulfamethoxazole (Bac-trim). The literature on clostridial infections in the urinary tract is reviewed.
