Abstract
A case of porto-renal end-to-end shunt is reported. The anastomosis was established four days after a classical end-to-side porto-caval operation had been performed because of portal hypertension. The primary shunt ceased functioning due to trombosis. The new anastomosis is widely patent and the portal hypertension diminished.
The kidney was left behind, has caused no trouble. The excretory urography is normal, angiography shows a non-dilated remnant of the renal vein emptying through collaterals, especially the lumbar veins.
