Abstract
Treatment of patients with prostatic cancer with oestrogen was accompanied by a decrease in the plasminogen activator content of the vein walls -determined histochemically. An initially high level of fibrinogen fell during the oestrogen treatment, but the other coagulation factors remained unchanged. Of the components of the fibrinolytic system, the inhibitors of urokinase-induced fibrinolysis were significantly depressed. a2-macroglobulin and plasminogen were slightly but insignificantly elevated during oestrogen treatment.
