Abstract

A case of localized primary amyloidosis of the bladder in a 53-year-old female is described. The initial symptom was pollakiuria. while macroscopic haematuria developed later. Cystoscopy revealed yellowish elevated compact changes in the wall of the bladder. There was moderate progression of the changes during a period of observation of four years. Pelvic arteriography showed vascular changes which could not be differentiated from those occurring in a malignant tumour. The vascular changes were more extensive than the changes observed during cystoscopy. HistopathologicaJ studies showed that the amyloid disease was of the pericollagen type.
