Abstract

Needle biopsies of kidneys, guided by ultrasound, were performed successfully in 41 patients with the aid of a modern dynamic sector scanner. With this method the passage of the needle through the tissues could be observed on the monitor display. The biopsies were taken from the very lowest part of the kidney in all cases. No complications occurred. Ultrasound investigation one day after the biopsy revealed no peri- or intrarenal haematomas.
