Abstract

Volume augmentation cystoplasty may reduce severe urgency and micturition pain in patients with bladder contracture due to chronic interstitial cystitis or tuberculous cystitis. Cystoplasty can be used successfully only in carefully selected patients with neurogenic bladder dysfunction. The role of the trigone after cystoplasty and the selection of patients for surgery are discussed on the basis of observations on 5 patients who did not improve after the procedure.
