The Identification of a Major Metabolite of HEOD (Dieldrin) in Human Faeces

&
Pages 213-219 | Received 17 Jun 1971, Published online: 15 Sep 2008

Abstract

1. Operatives exposed to aldrin and dieldrin excrete 9-hydroxy-HEOD in their faeces.

2. This compound has been detected by the use of gas chromatography with electron capture detection. The identity of the metabolite has been established from its gas chromatographic retention times, its RF values on thin layer chromatography and its mass spectra.

3. Oxidation and acetylation of the metabolite give compounds with the same retention values as 9-keto-HEOD, and 9-acetoxy-HEOD.
