Abstract
1. The insecticidally active carbamate, S-2-cyanoethyl-N-[(methylcarbamoyl)oxy]thio[1,2-14C]acetimidate (Shell compound WL 21959) is rapidly metabolized and excreted when ingested orally by rats. Metabolites are excreted mainly in the urine (40% of the dose) and exhaled air (36% of the dose). Less than 5% of the administered radioactivity is retained in the animals after 4 days.
2. Metabolites found in the urine are: I, unchanged compound; II, the hydroxythioacetimidate derived from I; III, the O-sulphate of II; and IV, the O-glucuronide of II.
3. Metabolites in the respired air are carbon dioxide and acetonitrile.
