Health Education in Medical Education: Collaboration, not competition

Abstract

There has been much interest in health education in the U.K. in recent decades, and specifically in the role of doctors as health educators. In this paper two examples of health education teaching sessions, designed primarily for medical undergraduates and postgraduates, are presented. One of the examples encourages students to explore interprofessional relationships, both in health education and more generally. Related to this, fruitful interdisciplinary collaboration has played a key part in the development and presentation of these and other teaching materials, and teaching sessions have been designed as demonstrations of teamwork in practice.
