Summary
Total and fractional ejaculates from 20 healthy volunteer sperm donors were studied, shortly after liquefaction and 6 hours later. The motility of spermatozoa in the first fraction did not differ significantly from that of the total ejaculate but was much better than that of the residual fraction. Spermatozoa from total ejaculates washed and resuspended in seminal plasma from the first fraction showed normal motility. Seminal plasma from the last fraction decreased spermatozoal motility. It is suggested that prostatic secretion may enhance spermatozoal motility whilst seminal vesicle secretion decreases it
