Anterior abdominal wall endometriosis

Summary

Between 1951 and 1980 twenty-five patients were diagnosed by histological examination as having endometriosis of the anterior abdominal wall. Twenty of these had endometriosis in a scar from previous abdominal surgery and five had endometriosis of the umbilicus. The symptomatology and reproductive history of the patients are reviewed and the aetiology of endometriosis discussed.
