Pages 274-278 | Published online: 02 Jul 2009

Summary

Seventeen female patients with proved severe bladder instability underwent transvaginal phenol bladder base injection. The technique used was quick and easy to carry out. The best results were achieved in a group of nine patients who received low vaginal injections and all these nine women showed some improvement in bladder capacity. Long-term follow up revealed a gradual deterioration in the improved bladder function but the ease of the technique means that repeat injections are a possibility. Side effects were minimal.
