Summary
Ten years of treatment of ovarian cancer in a district general hospital have been reviewed. Stage, age and residual disease were the main factors which determined survival. Maximum debulking to less than 1 cm was associated with improved disease free survival, but in this series this was only possible in 43 per cent of stage 3 disease. Age also proved a significant factor for survival. Sadly, we have not seen an overall improvement in long term survival since the introduction of platinum compounds.
