A modified computerized perimeter and its use in neuro-ophthalmic patients

Abstract

Our computerized perimeter ('Competer') has been fitted with an enlarged test point pattern, permitting a very detailed examination of the visual field between 2.5 and 35 degrees of eccentricity. This has facilitated topical diagnosis in CNS disorders. Some new paramaters for statistical evaluation of the results have also been introduced. These have been found useful for detecting and following up neurological field defects. The modified instrument is in continuous clinical use and has replaced manual perimetry in the vast majority of examinations.
