Abstract
An 81-year-old hypertensive woman sustained an embolic retinal branch artery occlusion in the right eye followed in 24 hours by a central retinal artery occlusion in the left eye. Rapid and sequential bilateral thromboembolic retinal infarctions are extremely rare, even in the setting of symptomatic carotid artery disease. This condition suggests the possibility of a predisposing hematologic aberration.
