Abstract
A case of maculopathy complicated by left internal carotid artery stenosis is presented. The patient, a 55-year-old man, suffered from sudden visual loss in his left eye. Ophthalmoscopically peculiar choroiditis-like mottled edema of the posterior pole region was found. Fluorescein angiography revealed that arm-to-retina circulation time and submacular choroidal circulation time were delayed. Ophthalmodynamometry showed 36/30 mm Hg on the left side and 100/70 mm Hg on the right. Cerebral angiography revealed left internal carotid stenosis. It was thought that the maculopathy was induced by low perfusion of choroidal and retinal circulation due to the internal carotid artery stenosis.
