Continuous non-rhythmic cycloversion: A possible paraneoplastic disorder

Abstract

The authors describe a patient who presented with previously undescribed continuous non-rhythmic cycloversions. Further evaluation revealed a pulmonary malignancy, raising the possibility that this eye movement disorder is a manifestation of a paraneoplastic neuroophthalmologic syndrome. Possible mechanisms for the eye movement disorder, especially for involvement of the mesencephalon, are reviewed.
