Abstract

The youngest case ever diagnosed with synergistic divergence is reported. A 5-month-old infant presented with congenital adduction palsy and exotropia of the left eye. By elec-tronystagmography it was demonstrated that all horizontal movements of the left eye were in opposition to the normal directions. A simple visual inspection method based on the vestibulo-ocular reflex also allowed the authors to confirm the diagnosis at this very young age.
