Abstract

Professor Adolphe Neetens has the ability of making friends all over the world, by his lasting devotion to ophthalmology combined by the overwhelming charm and warmth of his personality. As host and as organizer of medical and social meetings he has reached fame. His greatest achievements lie, however, in the field of Neuro-Ophthalmology, to which he has made so many excellent contributions. It is an honor to participate in a tribute to this Giant of European Neuro-Ophthalmology.

Supra-orbital neuralgia is a form of localized headache in or above the eyebrow with possible extension in the entire skin region of n. V-1. Its course is intermittent or chronic, its start is in the fourth or fifth decade and it is predominantly present in females. The most important hallmark is the same pain experienced by pressure on the supra-orbital notch. The proposed treatment is an injection of 2 ml of 2% lidocaine-1:60,000 adrenalin in the supra-orbital channel, which relieves and mostly obviates the pain in ± 80% of the patients over a considerable time span.
