Abstract
Laxity of the lower eyelid retractors has been said to play a major role in the pathogenesis of involutional entropion. A number of surgical procedures have been presented where the retractors are tightened via an incision through skin, muscle, and orbital septum. In this report, an easier approach was tried: after incision and dissection of the conjunctiva, a 6–8 mm large tucking of the aponeurosis was done with the aid of three absorbable sutures. The surgical technique was simple. Thirteen patients were operated on and reexamined 2–12 months after surgery. In seven, the functional and cosmetic result was good. In five, the effect was not fully satisfying and one entropion recurred. Although advantageous from many aspects, the method needs refining with regard to cure rate.
