Abstract

A new technique for the ultrastructural examination of the in-situ morphology of cell cultures is described. By embedding the cell cultures in situ in agarose before embedding them in epoxy resin, numerous agarose blocks with the cells on top of the blocks can be obtained and used for different types of investigation, including electron microscopy. Use of this technique enables many of the problems encountered with earlier methods to be avoided.
