Abstract
There are about 50,000 patients with sareoidosis in the United States. Almost all of them have intrathoracic involvement, but very few have asthma. Wheezing is not a prominent symptom or sign in a disorder which has numerous guises. Its masquerades (Table I) are reminiscent of syphilis in the days before penicillin. It was always important to remain alert to the possibility of syphilis; otherwise it was ocasionally overlooked. The same may now be said for sarcoidosis.
