Abstract
Fifty cases of naevi, keloids, scars and other benign lesions in regions where unsightly scars can be expected, have been operated upon with a method which spares the deep layer of the dermis stretched out under the skin to strengthen the scar. The follow-up contains 40 scars which are compared with a control group of 26 scars after common plastic surgical excisions. The comparison shows a clear superiority for the method. The resulting scars are good, in some cases extremely good, although the scars on the back of the patients are not so good as was hoped for especially in very wide excisions with much tension.
