Abstract
After a short review of his personal experience (1959) with dermo-fat autografts in 11 cases for reconstruction in micromastia, the author presents the result of a follow-up of 78 cases, in which Polystan plastic prostheses were used for the same purpose. There was a satisfactory subjective and objective result in those cases of hypoplasia with at least some cushion of adipose tissue and mammary gland to cover the prosthesis (see figure); on the other hand, cases with a real aplasia or atrophy of the gland tissue presented a certain hardness of the mammary consistency in the late result, prompting the author to recommend a softer prosthesis (Cronin).
