Abstract
The noticable features of this case of midline granuloma of the face are: That the ulceration of the nose started as a result of trauma. The external location made it possible to observe the ulcer and also to observe the fate of the skin grafts applied to it. The behaviour of these grafts were strikingly simulare to that of homografts e.g.—take in the beginning and later rejection. This and the seemingly retarding effect of cortison on the course of the disease, tend to support the theory that the disease is an auto-immune disease. No immunological studies were done, but would be indicated in similar cases.
The patient was under observation from the beginning (April, 1958) to the end (October, 1963). At autopsy it was confirmed, that the disease process was confined to the midface, but no signs of it were found in any other organs.
The histology were similar to what has previously been discribed in cases like this one.
