Abstract
A follow-up study of 49 subjects who received treatment for their malformation of the jaw was performed 12 months after surgery. The changes in the biological disorders and psycho-social reaction were investigated by a questionnaire. A majority of the subjects felt an increase of the self-confidence and greater harmony after the maxillo-facial treatment. A greater assurance in the relations with other people was also confirmed. Almost all the subjects estimated the result of the treatment as equal to or better than their expectations and so did also their relatives. In about 70% of those subjects with gastric-intestinal disorders recorded an improvement in this condition. An increased chewing ability was recorded by 92% of the subjects.
