Replacement of the Avulsed Scalp:Case Reports

&
Pages 67-70 | Received 20 Aug 1970, Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

The authors contend, on the basis of the literature and 2 cases of their own, that the avulsed scalp or a part of it can be used for replacement, provided dit has not been dry for longer than 45 min to 1 hour. It is safest to replace the avulsed scalp as a split-skin graft. Wherever the galea is left the graft may be expected to take, but less likely to take on the exposed bone, especially on the vertex.
