Dupuytren's Contracture: The Aetiological Role of Trauma

Pages 116-119 | Received 13 Mar 1971, Published online: 08 Jul 2009

Abstract

860 patients with Dupuytren's contracture were questioned concerning factors which might elucidate the possibility that the contracture was aetiologically conditioned by trauma or by manual work. The most important factors were: Manual or non-manual work, right-or left-handedness, onset of contracture on the right or the left. From the data it may be concluded that trauma is of no importance in the aetiology of Dupuytren's contracture.
