Repair of Skin Defects in the Achilles Tendon Region: Case Report

Abstract

Seven cases of whole skin defects in the achilles tendon region and of long standing, 5 of which followed operation of subcutaneous achilles tendon rupture and 2 of traumatic origin, have all been successfully treated by one or two bipedicle flaps. The procedure is described and its advantages and drawbacks discussed. It is suggested that this procedure is the one of choice when there is a whole skin defect in this region.
